Who are the Knights of Columbus? In its small beginnings in 1882 the ---- The Knights of Columbus has grown to be the world's largest Catholic Family Service organization with over 1.7 million Knights of Columbus and their families in the United States, Canada, the Philippines, Mexico, Puerto Rico, Guam, the Caribbean and Poland. The order's insurance program has consistently been given the highest rating in the industry. The members of the Fairborn Council contributed to local charities as well as many hours of volunteer work helping the less fortunate. Membership Benefits In addition to receiving the Columbia magazine, the world's largest Catholic family magazine, and some free insurance, members enjoy use of the Knights Lounge with its big screen HD TV, pool table, dart board and card tables and many children's parties and adult celebrations. How to Join Membership in the Knights of Columbus is open to practical Catholic men who are at least 18 years old. A practical Catholic is one who acts like and does what is expected of a Catholic. Application forms are available from any member or you may contact the Council Membership Director, Bill Gazzerro, call the Council Hall at (937) 878-2909. Fourth Degree Any Third Degree member in good standing (dues paid up to date), one year after the anniversary of his First Degree, is eligible for membership in the Fourth Degree. The primary purpose of the Fourth Degree is to foster a spirit of patriotism. Local Fourth Degree groups are called Assemblies and their members are most visible as they participate in parades with their swords, colorful capes and chapeau's. The Fairborn Third Degree Council hosts the meetings of the Msgr. Buckley Fourth Degree Assembly. |
